The Ring That Crossed the Threshold

Most possessions remain behind when a life ends.

Jewellery tarnishes. Letters fade. Photographs gather dust. The dead carry none of them. There exists, however, a singular account of a man who arrived beyond death with a wedding ring still held in his hand.

Whether this was a miracle, an impossibility, or an act of love powerful enough to resist the ordinary laws that govern the passage between worlds has never been resolved. Among those who know the story, the ring is not remembered as an object. It is remembered as a promise that refused to die.

Some believe it became the first thread in a journey that would come to touch countless other souls. Others quietly wonder whether the worlds themselves shifted to make room for something that should never have crossed the threshold at all.

No consensus exists. Only the story remains.
