Comic Sans, proof of concept complete.

Comic Sans, proof of concept complete.

A quick follow-up to my last post: the Comic Sans character animation proof of concept is now finished. The shading is in, the timing’s tightened, and the gloriously awkward Muzak track has officially found its home. As an asset for the final design though, it is far from complete as this only sets the basis for developing the character ecosystem. Other characters will follow this kind of pattern.

This little character was the first prototype for the new learning project I’ve been building, and seeing it come to life has been a satisfying milestone. It’s still just a glimpse of the larger concept — but it’s a solid one.

If you saw the early versions in the previous post, the distance between those and this is not much, but I think the value is in that the micro movements represent how I think these characters will behave and allow me to think of tweaks and refinements. More characters (and more personality) coming soon.
