The storyboards are finally starting to breathe. After weeks of script revisions, thumbnails, and pencil roughs, I’ve started laying down ink on Bloodbath on Unholy Island — and I thought I’d share a little glimpse of pages 21–22 as they take shape.
These pages are still raw, mid-process, but there’s something satisfying about watching the story come alive through ink — that point where the loose energy of the pencils finally meets the confidence of the line.
I’ve been experimenting quite a bit with the inking style. The goal is to find a balance between clean, realistic lineworkand something grittier, more stylised, that captures the tension and mood leading up to the uneasy atmosphere of the island itself. The result (so far) sits somewhere in the middle — bold when it needs to be, textured when the moment turns dark or tense.
There’s a rhythm to inking that’s completely different from the storyboard stage. It’s quieter, more meditative — but also more revealing. Every decision shows. Every hesitation is visible. But that’s part of the fun: watching the mistakes, the textures, and the accidents turn into part of the book’s visual identity.
So here’s a little preview of where pages 21–22 are heading. I’m slowly but surely nailing down the look and feel for the rest of the graphic novel.
Stay tuned — I’ll be sharing more glimpses from the inking desk as Bloodbath on Unholy Island continues to evolve.
